Don't pressure Tinubu over fuel price: 'Yoruba' Reno urges Nigerians | Ikejabird.com

Popular social media influencer Reno Omokri urged Nigerians not to pressurize President Tinubu over the hike in fuel prices. He clearly stated that the President has no control over the price of petroleum products since the subsidy has been removed.

He stated that the burden of fuel price management should now rest on the shoulders of industry stakeholders, particularly the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), who are better positioned to deal with the dynamics of the petroleum market effectively.

Reno Omokri explained that Nigerians should rather mount pressure on the President on the minimum wage as he stated that the current minimum wage of ₦30,000 is grossly inadequate when compared to the current cost of living in Nigeria.

The minimum wage should be N75,000

Meanwhile, Reno Omokri clearly suggested that President Tinubu should increase Nigeria’s minimum wage to at least ₦75,000.

Reno also emphatically stated that if President Tinubu does not increase the minimum wage significantly, he might otherwise lose the huge support base he started off with on May 29, 2023.

Additionally, Reno Omokri pointed out that if Nigerians can conveniently fuel N70 billion for Senators and Representatives to buy furniture and also give luxury allowance for the government, then we can as well afford to pay both public and private sector workers a living wage.

Reactions: 100k minimum wage is okay

Many Nigerians reacted to this post. See reactions below:

@francis_ranco: Hahaha, Chairman, National Orientation Agency, good morning, Sir! Are you awake, or still sleeping?

@floaytravel: Exactly, at least 100k minimum wage is okay, people are surffering, I just hope our President social medial person can see this and show it to him.

@Debigjossy: @renoomokri what is the colour of your problem, how can you be suggesting the President to raise the minimum wage from #30000 to #75000. How on earth is that amount going to be adequate for a family of two not to talk of a family of four.

@Pnedu: Tinubu’s spokesman/defender Have you thought about those in the informal sector of the economy?

Reno Omokri advises President Tinubu regarding the distribution of fuel subsidy palliatives

Meanwhile, Reno Omokri recently praised President Tinubu’s plan to give ₦8000 every month to 12 million households as a way to help them cope with the removal of fuel subsidies and gave him some advice to better it.

He believes that this plan shows compassion in dealing with the difficult economic situation caused by the removal of subsidies on petrol.

Omokri suggests that President Tinubu should make the ₦8000 monthly payment conditional on children from recipient families attending school regularly. To ensure this, he proposes that the principal or headmaster sign payment vouchers as proof of the children’s attendance.
