D’banj in ICPC’S Net: List of Nigerian Musicians Arrested In 2022

Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, known as D’banj was detained by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) for allegedly diverting public funds under N-Power, an empowerment program established by the federal government in 2016.
The ‘Fall in Love’ crooner was arrested yesterday, Tuesday, December 6, 2022 after a series of summons to the ICPC headquarters in Abuja. In a statement by Mrs Azuka Ogugua, the spokesperson of the ICPC, she said, “In line with its mandate, the Commission had received numerous petitions on the diversion of N-Power funds running into billions of naira following the approval and release of such funds to the beneficiaries by the Federal Government. Many N-Power beneficiaries had complained over the non-receipt of the monthly funds in spite of payment by the Government.”
According to her, the artiste, “Is currently assisting the investigators to unravel the circumstances of the fraud allegations by the petitioners.” The investigation will also extend to other beneficiaries of the fraud and the banks where they have their accounts.

Harrysong

The Nigeria Police Force arrested Harrysong on October 11, 2022 for defaming Soso Soberekon, music producer and artiste manager. Harrysong claimed that Soso sent armed robbers to kill him in his home while speaking with the hosts of the Frankly Speaking Podcast.
“If you see Soso now, if you see Soso now, you will think he is my friend. He sent people to come and kill me in my house in Port Harcourt.” Upon hearing this, Soso petitioned him and he was arrested

Ice Prince

‘Oleku’ crooner, Ice Prince was apprehended in September for allegedly assaulting a police officer after he was stopped because he had no license plate. Ice Prince initially agreed to be taken to the police station for questioning, but changed his mind. He abducted the officer in his car, and assaulted him. He also threatened to throw the officer in the lagoon.

Kizz Daniel

The Vadoo of Africa was arrested in Tanzania on August 9, 2022 after he failed to perform at his show. Kizz Daniel blamed his non-performance on the failure of his flight to get him one of the bags that contained the gold chain he wished to wear on stage. His failure to show up at the event displeased waiting fans.

T.I Blaze

Professionally known as T.I Blaze, Akintunde Abiodun Timileyin was apprehended by the NDLEA in April during a midnight raid. He later shared a video of his apartment looking disorderly after the law enforcement agents.
“NDLEA bumped into my apartment this morning and scattered everywhere. They said I sang about Canadian Loud. They also arrested my manager and road manager. They took them away in their Hilux”, the artiste captioned.

Zinoleesky and Mohbad

The duo were arrested in February at their Lekki homes by the NDLEA for possessing hard drugs.
