Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the spokesperson for the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), has announced his appointment as the Special Adviser (Political) to Vice President Kashim Shettima. 

Dr. Baba-Ahmed, who happens to be the elder brother of Datti Baba-Ahmed, the running mate to Peter Obi in the 2023 presidential election under the Labour Party, expressed his gratitude for the appointment on his X (formerly Twitter) account. 

He emphasized that it is not the time for criticism or fence-sitting, emphasizing the importance of contributing to turning the country around.

This is not the time for fence-sitting

This appointment comes as no surprise, given Dr. Baba-Ahmed’s background as the former Chief of Staff to former Senate President Bukola Saraki from 2017 to 2019.

The seasoned spokesperson’s acceptance of this new role demonstrates his eagerness to make a positive impact and contribute to the development and progress of Nigeria. 

Dr. Baba-Ahmed posted on Twitter: 

“It is time to make it public that I have accepted the call to serve as Special Adviser (Political) to the VP, @KShettim .This is not the time for fence-sitting or criticism when you can be useful in turning the country round. I am honored and humbled. Please pray for me & Nigeria”

Shettima flags off N5.1 Billion palliative distribution,  N16.8 Billion vehicle inauguration in Sokoto State

Meanwhile, Vice President Kashim Shettima led the inauguration of a significant initiative in Sokoto State on Monday, September 11, as the state government distributed N5.1 billion worth of palliatives and unveiled vehicles valued at N16.8 billion. 

These efforts are in line with the Federal Government’s response to the fuel subsidy removal, designed to provide relief and support to Nigerians.

The palliatives, comprising essential food items such as rice, maize, and millet, were distributed to assist the poor and vulnerable individuals in the state.
