Cristiano Ronaldo suffered a neck injury playing for his Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr on Monday night.
But both the Portuguese legend and his coach remain hopeful the knock is only minor ahead of a big upcoming match.
The 38-year-old talisman was substituted in the 78th minute of Al Nassr’s 0-0 away draw with Persepolis in the AFC Champions League Round of 16. Despite earning a spot in the next phase, fans globally expressed concern after Ronaldo walked off gingerly holding his neck.

However, manager Luis Castro eased fears in his post-match comments to media: “The medical team is studying Cristiano’s injury and will do everything to ensure he is fit for our next game.”
Before the knock, Ronaldo dazzled spectators by selflessly urging officials to overturn a penalty awarded to him, admitting no foul occurred. His honesty earned widespread praise.
Ronaldo will now hope for clearance to feature in Friday’s crucial Saudi Pro League clash against top-ranked leaders Al Hilal as Al Nassr fight for the title. His 24 goals in 25 games across all competitions make CR7 indispensable to his new Middle East club’s ambitions.
With neck injuries capable of being complex, supporters must wait nervously for Al Nassr’s medical report on their superstar attacker’s latest physical issue. But the initial indications seem hopefully minor.
Ronaldo has shown this season that he remains more than capable of brilliance despite his age. Both club and global fans will wish for a quick recovery to allow his continued impressive performances.
