Victor Osimhen has been linked with several clubs in Europe as Chelsea are the latest club interested in signing the Nigerian forward.
The 23-year-old.was in blistering form against Jose Mourinho’s Roma, scoring the match-winner for Napoli as they remain top of the table.
With ten minutes left to play in the match, the Super Eagles striker out-muscled Chris Smalling and volleyed home the ball into a tight angle as Juliano Spalleti’s men top of the table in the Italian topflight division.
Italian news media outlet Calciomercato has revealed that Chelsea scouts were pleased with Osimhen’s man-of-the-match performance against Roma.
And it is understood that the Serie A club will be holding out a £87m price tag for the release of the former Lille star.
A host of elite European sides were been interested in signing the lanky forward after settling in his first two seasons in Serie A.
Manchester United, Arsenal and Newcastle were among the sides lurking for the Nigerian international during last summer’s transfer window.
Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich and French Champions Paris Saint-Germain were also keen on the Nigerian.
Osimhen was signed from Lille in 2020 after an impressive first season with the Ligue 1 when he scored 14 league goals.
The ex-Wolfsburg star netted 10 in his first season with Napoli and improved with 14 goals in the 2021/22 campaign.
Despite being slowed down with injuries this season, Osimhen has scored five goals in all competitions including one in the Champions League.
