The Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) has issued a strong warning to employees of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), cautioning them to strictly adhere to the rules of conduct governing public service. 

Suleiman Usman, the State Director of FCT CCB, revealed that conducting private business during official working hours is not only against the law but also punishable. 

He conveyed this message during an educational event held in Abuja.

They enlightened them on the importance of asset declarations

Usman emphasized that government employees need to understand the importance of asset declaration and the code of conduct that applies to public officers. 

He stated that this understanding is crucial for ensuring proper compliance with their obligations and responsibilities.

Usman also pointed out that the Bureau has a committee responsible for investigating such matters and taking appropriate action. 

Government positions are held in trust for the public

He urged employees to report their assets in a timely and accurate manner to promote transparency and accountability.

Usman reminded them that government positions are held in trust for the public and thus require a high level of integrity.

Dr. Jummai Ahmadu, the acting Director of Reform Coordination and Service Improvement at FCTA, explained that the educational campaign conducted by CCB is a regular nationwide initiative to refresh government officials’ understanding of asset disclosure.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Labour Congress has officially confirmed the suspension of its planned strike after successful intervention by President Bola Tinubu and the Senate. 

This decision came following a meeting of the Congress’s National Executive Council.

In response to the reports of the NLC protest held nationwide, including the Federal Capital Territory, an emergency meeting was arranged between the President and the labour leaders.
