The Spanish sports council said that Luis Rubiales, who is the president of the Spanish Football Federation, has been suspended from his duties. They are starting a process for him to explain his actions to a sports tribunal.
Rubiales, who is 46 years old, didn’t agree to step down as the president even after he behaved inappropriately during the Women’s World Cup final. He kissed a player on the lips and made an inappropriate gesture while celebrating.
He said he won’t resign during a meeting of the football federation and apologized for his behaviour. However, the international football organization FIFA started a disciplinary process against him.
