Breaking News: Tribunal nullifies victory of Labour Party lawmaker in Lagos, Banky W reacts | Ikejabird.com

The Tribunal sitting in Ikeja, Lagos State, has nullified the victory of Labour Party (LP) Lawmaker, Thaddeus Attah, as the Representative of the Eti Osa Federal Constituency of Lagos State. 

The court order, issued on Monday, September 11, mandates the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a supplementary election in the 32 polling units of Eti-Osa within 90 days.

In response to this ruling, Nigerian singer turned politician, Olubankole Wellington, popularly known as Banky W, who contested the election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), expressed optimism by posting on his social media account, “It is possible. Still.”

There will be a re-run 

Similarly, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate and former lawmaker, Ibrahim Obanikoro, shared a campaign poster while soliciting votes, writing, “Re-elect Your Neighbor.”

This tribunal decision has stirred up political discussions and speculation about the upcoming supplementary election in the Eti Osa Federal Constituency.

Three Labour Party representatives sacked from National Assembly by Election Petition Tribunal

Meanwhile, the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Umuahia has delivered a verdict, ousting three members of the House of Representatives from the Labour Party (LP). 

The tribunal’s rulings came on Monday following arguments presented by the petitioners, ultimately leading to the removal of the affected lawmakers.

Ibe Okwara Osonwa, representing the Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency under the banner of LP, was unseated by the tribunal, which was presided over by Justice Adeyinka Adegberegbe.
