The Nigeria Labour Congress has officially confirmed the suspension of its planned strike after successful intervention by President Bola Tinubu and the Senate.
This decision came following a meeting of the Congress’s National Executive Council.
In response to the reports of the NLC protest held nationwide, including the Federal Capital Territory, an emergency meeting was arranged between the President and the labour leaders.
Consequently, a press release was issued by the NLC on Tuesday, reaffirming their intention to proceed with the mass protest as originally planned after an unproductive meeting with the Federal Government.
However, the tide changed as the Senate and President Tinubu stepped in to address the situation.
After meeting with the Senate and discussing with President Tinubu the previous day, the NLC decided to suspend the protest.
The NLC President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, stated that their course of action was unchanged in their dedication to represent the interests and desires of Nigerian workers and the people.
In summary, the planned NLC strike has been temporarily suspended due to the successful intervention of President Bola Tinubu and the Senate. The decision came after the NLC’s protest and a meeting with the Federal Government failed to produce the desired changes or concessions.
