Nigeria is currently facing a widespread power outage as the national grid system, operated by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) in Osogbo, Osun State, collapses.

This unfortunate event has left countless Nigerians without access to electricity.

Reports indicate that the national grid’s capacity has plummeted to a mere 273 megawatts of electricity, sourced from only two out of more than 27 electricity generation facilities.

Multiple Distribution Companies have confirmed the grid’s failure, reporting that it occurred at 00:41 AM. Consequently, numerous areas have been left without power due to this disruption.

Around 1 AM, the total power supply on the grid dropped to a mere 35 MW, indicating a complete collapse of the nation’s power system.

Although there was a slight improvement at around 3 AM, with power levels reaching 193 MW, the situation remains dire, with only 273 MW available at the time of this report. This is far below the electricity demand of Nigeria, leaving many citizens in the dark.
