On Wednesday, there was chaos and turmoil at the Osogbo prayer ground, where Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State had gone to observe Eid Mubarak prayers. According to the governor’s close aides, an assassination attempt was made on him at the mosque.
The governor’s aides disclosed that the incident occurred at the Osogbo Eid praying ground when a group of hoodlums, allegedly led by members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), invaded the governor’s section with the intention of attacking a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) House of Representatives.
However, an alternative account suggests that Governor Adeleke himself ordered the arrest of two individuals, identified as Baba Tuns and SRJ at the Osogbo Eid ground. According to this version, the people present resisted the arrest, and a battalion of soldiers, acting on the governor’s executive order, was deployed to carry out the arrests.
