Usman Baba, Inspector General of Police (IGP), has ordered the suspension of Drambi Vandi, the trigger-happy Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) who shot and killed 41-year-old Lagos lawyer Bolanle Raheem.
Ikeja Bird recalls that Bolanle was shot dead on Christmas day, Sunday, December 25, by the officer at Ajah, Lagos state.
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and the Lagos police command have since expressed their condolences to the family of the bereaved, describing the tragic incident as sad and unfortunate.
In a bid to ensure justice, IGP on Wednesday, December 28, recommended the suspension of the officer from the police force.
In a statement by the force’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) Prince Muyiwa Adejobi, Vandi was suspended “in line with the internal disciplinary processes of the force.”
