President Muhammadu Buhari has finally signed into law the Appropriation Bill of 2023 on Tuesday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
It was well packed event attended by the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Ahmed Lawan as well as Femi Gbajabiamiala, the Speaker of House of Representatives.
The President pointed out that the entire budget is N21.83 trillion. He also said this budget would help critical infrastructure project ongoing across the country.
The budget also included an increase of N1.32 trillion, a notch higher than what the executives intially proposed.
Earlier, the Senate President had hinted that the Buhari will sign the 2023 budget on Tuesday.
“We are looking forward to Mr President signing the Appropriation Bill 2023, by the grace of God, on Tuesday. This because we signed the documents yesterday, having lost some time because of some anomalous figures we had in the bill presented to the National Assembly,” Lawan was quoted to have said on Sunday.
“But thank God, the National Assembly, in both chambers, has passed the Appropriation Bill 2023 on Wednesday, and I’m sure that Mr. President and his team, on the executive side will work on what we have done. And the first thing on Tuesday, the first official working day of the year, I believe that Mr. President will be signing the Appropriation Bill 2023,” he added.
President Buhari will be signing out his eight term administration on May 29, 2023 to usher in a new crop of government.
