Barcelona has lost the appeal to keep Ferran Torres away from serving two match ban that was stamped on him after the match against Atletico Madrid.
The Barcelona forward Ferran Torres was given a two match ban after he fought with Atletico Madrid player Savic during a league game that ended 1:0 in favor of his side.
Barcelona had hoped that contesting the decision would lead to a reversal but that was not the case.
With this ban, the La Liga league topping team will be short of strikers considering that Robert Lewandowski is also serving a match ban.
Barcelona coach Xavi had pointed out that Ferran Torres is very important to the team and that his absence will be greatly felt.
Xavi said: “It is also important to win without Lewy, because he is a key player. We have missed him under pressure. Ferran has done that job when he came out, but Lewy is a very important player for us. With Kessie and Ferran [on], we were able to play in the opposite half again.”
Barcelona are currently being linked with Chelsea striker Aubameyang who has not been able to make his mark since joining the Premier League club.
The Spanish giant appears to be planning to bring in more players this January to keep their title hope alive.
