Sacrococcygeal teratoma is a rare, often life-threatening condition that forms a malignant tumor at the base of a baby’s tailbone at 16 weeks.

Olutoye co-led a team of 21 doctors, and the part of the fetus’ body where the tumor was attached was taken out of the uterus and as much mass as possible was removed.

This surgery was especially special because some other doctors had advised termination of the pregnancy due to the severity of the case.
