Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta has explained why his top defender Thomas Partey was left out of the match against Manchester city.
Arteta said that Thomas Partey is sidelined as a result of injury, phasing out talks that there might be more to it than injury.
“It’s what happens in football, players pick [up] injuries,” Arteta told reporters.
“Unfortunately Thomas felt something in his back muscle and he wasn’t available to play today.”
The coach also revealed that Jorginho will be filling the shoes of Partey who is a recent signing from Chelsea.
“That’s why we brought him here, for these occasions and because that was a possibility and we planned for that, and Jorgi has the opportunity today,” he added.
Arsenal match will prove crucial to their title race as Manchester city are just three points short of equaling Gunner’s total points.
