At least eight Arsenal fans have been arrested in Uganda by the country’s police following a parade celebrating the club’s victory over Premier League rivals Manchester United, Dailymail reports.
The tie between the Gunners and the Old Trafford side was held on Sunday, January 22, at the Emirates Stadium with the host side securing the whole three points with a narrow 3-2 win, thanks to Eddie Nketiah’s dramatic late winner.
Marcus Rashford and Lisandros Martinez’s efforts were not enough to secure points for Man United in the five-goal thriller as Arsenal’s aggressive attackers made the difference in the tough tie.
The win left Arsenal with a five-point lead on the Premier League table with 50 points with Man City and Newcastle holding the second and third spots respectively.
Amid the celebration, some enthusiastic Arsenal fans in Uganda held a victory parade on Monday, January 23, in the city of Jinja.
They were, however, intercepted by the police who said the jubilant fans did not have the police permit to hold such a rally.
At least eight people have been arrested for holding a “procession” without getting “clearance from the police.”
