Speculations are circulating that the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdullahi Adamu, has tendered his resignation, which was done to avoid being forcibly removed.
Reports suggest that Adamu’s resignation was prompted by several factors, including his lack of support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Over the past few weeks, there have been calls within the party for his resignation, with a threat to remove him at the upcoming National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting if he failed to comply.

Adamu is a liability to the party
Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser, who viewed Adamu as a liability to the party, was one of the key figures advising Adamu to resign
Additionally, Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodimma, informed Adamu that if he didn’t resign, he would face removal at the next NEC meeting.
Critics calling for Adamu’s resignation accused him of publicly supporting former Senate President Ahmed Lawan, failing to fully endorse Tinubu despite securing the party’s ticket, and also mismanaging party funds.
Omisore also face potential removal
Although there has been no official confirmation from the APC, rumors suggest that Adamu submitted his resignation under the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Meanwhile, it is also speculated that the party’s National Secretary, Iyiola Omisore, may also face potential removal.
Both Adamu and Omisore have faced allegations of violating the party’s constitution and failing to contribute effectively to the party’s success in the recent presidential election.
As the APC’s National Executive Committee and National Caucus meetings are scheduled for July 18 and 19, there is anticipation that Adamu’s resignation could be discussed during the party’s internal deliberations.
