Tobi Amusan, the reigning world champion and record holder in the women’s 100m hurdles, was noticeably absent from Team Nigeria’s roster of 26 athletes announced by the Athletics Federation of Nigeria.

 The list includes 11 male and 15 female athletes set to compete at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary, from August 19 to 27.

Despite a promising lineup, Nigerians are anxiously awaiting Tobi Amusan’s fate.

Anti-doping violation

Her participation at the championship remains uncertain due to a provisional suspension by the Athletics Integrity Unit. 

She has been charged with missing three drug tests this season, with a hearing scheduled before the World Championships. 

Amusan has asserted her innocence and intends to contest the charges, but with only 10 days left until the championships, details on the proceedings are still awaited.

In another news, Tobi Amusan, the world record holder in women’s hurdles, has recently been charged with an alleged anti-doping rule violation. 

The charges against her are related to her missing three drug tests within a 12-month period.
