A Nigerian man named @lollypeezle tweeted about how thugs in Lagos, known as agberos or touts, often treat children with great care.
He mentioned that they ensure the kids get on buses early for school, help them cross the roads safely, and won’t allow them to be in dangerous places.
According to netizens in the comment sections, many of these agberos come from troubled backgrounds and don’t want young people to follow the same path they took. They make sure the children go to school, protect them, and prevent them from joining bad gangs.

They are actually really nice
Many people supported this claim, while others shared their positive experiences with agberos they encountered.
They mentioned that these touts were actually not as bad as we think but they arejust people who made mistakes in their youth. Some people even shared how agberos lent them money when they couldn’t afford transportation.
Reactions: Don’t judge a book by it cover
Let’s have a look at some of the comments:
@_ekenonymous:Agberos are sweethearts honestly. At least some of them I’ve encountered. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve received help crossing the road and being led to a bus. Amongst other nice things.
@OfficialBorbor:They have kids too plus,if that’s the only way they can pay back after collect our phones then it’s fine
@SerZeez:I remember as a child when I was awaiting JSS1 admission.
I tagged along with a big bros who was soliciting for NGO donations. We got to the thugs and before bros said anything, one looked at me and said “You! Why you no go school?”
I had to explain everything to him.
@Remmedy:It’s what most of them missed while growing up (love, care and attention) so they know the effects and dont want the children to end up like them. I know one chairman who puts students in buses at his tarmac for free when he’s on duty, dem no born d driver well to collect money.
@ms_yudee:Agberos have been the most helpful to me in Lagos. The reassurance they give is even believable “no worry na me dey control this area nobody fit touch you” 😂🤣
