An Abuja-based private worker, Salihu Kehinde (not real name) has narrated how his phone was snatched from his hand on a taxi heading to Area 1 from Mararaba, Abuja on Sunday.
Kehinde told IkejaBird that he had traveled all the way from Kogi State to attend his grandmother burial who died a day before.
On his way from the village, his phone was stolen at Mararaba in Abuja.
“I was coming from the village from my grandma burial who died on Saturday when it happened. I was very surprised with the way the phone was snatched from my hand,” he said.
Kehinde also said he was previously sitting in the middle of the car seat but then when two passengers sitting at the front alighted, the driver asked him to take their place at the front.
“I was heading to Area 1 so I took my phone out to recharge and return some of the missed calls and it was then that my phone was yanked away from my hand,” he said.
He said he struggled a little with the thief but he could not get the best out of the situation because he was caught off guard.
“It was after it had happened that I began to hear tales of the amount passengers that have lost their phones in this location. It was very painful because I was going through the pains of losing my grandma and then this happened,” the Abuja-based man said.
Kehinde also revealed that he will be following up on the phone. He said he had entrusted the recovery of the phone to a police man in Mararaba who assured him that it can be tracked.
