The Lagos State Police Command has intensified security measures around schools and strategic locations across the state.
The move followed reports of a threatening notice allegedly pasted at a school, claiming that bandits planned to attack and abduct students, a development that sparked concern among parents and residents.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the Command said there is currently no verified intelligence suggesting any imminent threat of attack within Lagos State.
The police urged parents, guardians, school authorities, and residents to remain calm and avoid panic, stressing that every security concern is being treated seriously.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, has ordered an immediate assessment of the situation and directed the deployment of enhanced security measures across the affected area and other strategic locations in the state.
The Command disclosed that police personnel, working alongside other security agencies, have been deployed to strengthen security around schools, communities, and critical infrastructure.
It further emphasized that Lagos remains secure and warned that the Command would not tolerate any attempt by criminal elements to threaten public safety or spread fear among residents.
“The public is once again assured that all hands are on deck to ensure the continued safety, security, and well-being of every resident of Lagos State.”
The police also encouraged residents to remain vigilant and support security agencies with timely and credible information, noting that effective policing requires cooperation between the public and security authorities.
Residents are advised to report suspicious activities or persons to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency lines.
This reassurance comes amid rising public anxiety over insecurity and recent cases of kidnappings and school abductions reported in parts of the country.
