The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially kicked off a 50-day rotational Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise across all wards in Lagos State.
Resident Electoral Commissioner Prof. Ayobami Salami said the exercise which started on February 2 and runs until April 10, 2026 aims to bring voter registration closer to citizens and discourage voter apathy ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Under this second phase of CVR, INEC Voter Enrolment Devices (IVEDs) will be rotated through each registration area (ward) across Lagos’ Local Government Areas. Rather than having people travel long distances to LGA offices, registration teams are moving enrollment closer to communities.
During the final week (April 11–17), registration will be centralized again at the Local Government Area offices. Eligible Nigerians can register to vote for the first time, transfer their registration, update their personal details, or replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) during this period.
Prof. Salami said INEC has improved logistics, increased personnel training, and strengthened technology to reduce delays and build public confidence in the process.
