In a renewed effort to curb Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) across Lagos, the State Government has officially designated September as Domestic and Sexual Violence Awareness Month. The campaign, themed “SGBV – It Concerns Us All!!!”, is aimed at intensifying public education, promoting victim protection, and ensuring justice for survivors.

The initiative aligns with the state’s broader commitment under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES+ Agenda, with a focus on the Education and Gender Equality pillars.

To kick off the awareness month, Monday, September 1st has been earmarked as Turn Alausa Purple Campaign Day, a symbolic color for domestic violence awareness.

The campaign serves as a call to action for all Lagosians, emphasizing that SGBV is not just a private issue but a collective societal concern. The government further urged citizens, particularly in Ikeja, the administrative hub of Lagos, to actively participate and support the cause throughout the month on September

As the state deepens its fight against SGBV, this September stands as a reminder: ending gender-based violence requires everyone’s voice and action.
