Manchester, UK – Everton football supporters staged an aerial protest over Saturday’s big Premier League match between Manchester City and Liverpool. They had a plane fly a banner slamming the league as “corrupt.”
It was the latest fan action directed at Premier League leaders. Recently, the league docked Everton 10 points for breaking finance rules. This steep punishment angered many loyal Everton followers.
The banner flown over City’s Etihad Stadium read “Premier League = Corrupt.” It was funded by Everton’s 1878 fan group. They raised over $50,000 for signs, banners and the plane message seen during the game.

The group said flying it on Saturday allowed maximum exposure, with Everton playing a late Sunday match. Everton faces Manchester United this weekend.
Thousands of protest leaflets and banners calling out league corruption will fill Goodison Park stands on Sunday too. Fans feel powerless and want their voices heard.
One banner shows new Everton manager Sean Dyche as a “Dog of War” ready to battle tough circumstances. Supporters want to send a message to the league through coordinated demonstrations.
Earlier Friday, Evertonians protested outside the Premier League’s London office as well. The fan group thanked contributors and promised financial transparency. They want continued solidarity against what they view as unfair treatment.
While the Premier League holds media rights over images, broadcasters notably avoided showing Everton’s aerial statement during the marquee league game.
With their beloved club facing relegation danger, Everton supporters aim to ramp up pressure through protests. But the league insists it must hold all clubs accountable for following financial guidelines.
