The Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) has called on President Bola Tinubu’s administration to eliminate tuition fees in all federal tertiary institutions and increase subsidies to alleviate the economic challenges Nigerians face.
ECWA President Stephen Panya made the request during a press conference in Lagos where he commended efforts to restore the naira’s value but said more intervention is needed.
Removal of fuel subsidies and the naira’s floatation have exacerbated inflation, unemployment, and poverty, he noted.

Raise the worker’s pay
Panya urged the government to substantially raise workers’ pay, make tertiary education free, and bolster social investment programs for the vulnerable.
“Responsible fiscal management through non-essential spending cuts and improved revenue collection can help implement targeted subsidies,” he said.
The clergyman also called for national unity and an inclusive administration that gives every Nigerian a sense of belonging.
“Our diversity should strengthen, not divide us. As Christians, we will live in peace with all,” Panya stated.

Meanwhile, the University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos State, has reportedly increased the fees for undergraduate students.
According to a statement from the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (UNILAG branch), the Vice-Chancellor disclosed the new fees during a meeting with the top management staff.
Students are upset about the unexpected and significant increase in school fees at Unilag, the highest ever in the school’s history. The issue has become a hot topic on social media, with many Nigerians expressing their concerns and seeking assistance.
