During her inaugural lecture at Princeton University on October 25, 2023, Nigerian literary icon Chimamanda Adichie passionately affirmed that Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, had emerged as the victor in the 2023 Nigerian election.
Adichie, while addressing the audience and reading a letter addressed to US President Joe Biden, introduced Obi as the rightful winner of the Nigerian presidential election.
She emphasized his exceptional humility, a rarity among politicians, and expressed deep respect for him, depicting him as a symbol of hope not only for Nigeria but for the entire African continent.

Adichie went on to reveal that some of her literary works were born from the frustration and anger ignited by the political landscape in Nigeria, particularly the elections.
She voiced her dissatisfaction with the electoral process in her letter, highlighting deliberate election manipulation and asserting that it was tainted by discrepancies and irregularities overlooked by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
