Ifon-Ilobu crisis: APC national secretary advocates for peace

The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ajibola Basiru, has issued a heartfelt plea for peace between the Ifon and Ilobu. 

Condemning the conflicts that have led to loss of lives and property, Basiru emphasizes the critical need for dialogue to restore harmony.

In a statement, Basiru expressed deep concern for the victims of the hostilities and urged all parties involved, including traditional rulers, local leaders, community elders, and the government, to prioritize dialogue as the primary path to lasting peace.

Peaceful negotiation is what they need 

He specifically said: 

“I believe constructive discussions, implementing conflict resolution mechanisms, and peaceful negotiations can breed an enduring and lasting harmony between the warring communities and engender large-scale peace in Osun State,” 

Highlighting the collective responsibility to set aside differences and work towards shared goals, Basiru called for unity among citizens, recognizing shared history, culture, and norms. 

He emphasized on the importance of building stronger communities, fostering growth, and securing a better future for the next generation.

In addition, the APC National Secretary appealed to the media and civil society organizations to play a vital role in promoting peace by spreading messages of reconciliation, cohesion, and hope.

Basiru concluded by reaffirming his commitment to working with other stakeholders to pursue peace in Ifon and Ilobu. 

He called on everyone to join in the collective endeavor for a more harmonious and prosperous Osun State.

APC national chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, reportedly resigns

Meanwhile, speculations are circulating that the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdullahi Adamu, has tendered his resignation, which was done to avoid being forcibly removed.

Reports suggest that Adamu’s resignation was prompted by several factors, including his lack of support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. 

Over the past few weeks, there have been calls within the party for his resignation, with a threat to remove him at the upcoming National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting if he failed to comply.
