Due to the increase of obligatory fees by the University Of Lagos (Unilag), some of the struggling students have resorted to openly pleading for sponsorships to cover their fees.
Recently, a student of the University, Oluwakemi Emmanuel, was recently seen in Ifako-Gbagada, Lagos, begging for help to pay her school fees. She stood with a placard which read, “Please help a final year student with her school fees. God bless you.”
Fortunately, a finance company came forward and gave her a cheque to cover her fees and upkeep.

Another student, Victoria, recently took to X (formerly Twitter) to plead for financial support in covering her school fees. She explained that despite her efforts to self-fund her education, the recent fee increase has made it incredibly challenging for her to continue.
She wrote, “I’m a 200L student at the University of Lagos, studying Education in English. I’ve been sponsoring myself since my first year and now that Unilag has increased school fees by over 500%, I can’t afford both school fees and accommodation. Below is my current CGPA.”
Recall that in September, Afolashade Temitope’s tearful situation during the protest, caused by her financial struggles with fees, touched the hearts of many. She gained public sympathy and received sponsorships and gifts.
It is unfortunate that some students had to resort to seeking public sympathy to cover their fees due to the increase. The question is how many more students will have to do the same and how many Nigerians can provide sponsorships?

Save Unilag students: Students protest hike in fees online
In other news, sudents of the Federal University of Lagos, also known as Unilag, have gone online to protest against the hike in their school fees.
As reported by Ikejabird, the Federal University of Lagos, popularly known as Unilag, recently increased its school by over 400%, attracting the attention of everyone.
The hashtag #saveunilagstudents is currently trending on Twitter as students express their concerns and urge the university management to address the issue.
