Manchester United has announced that Mason Greenwood will leave the club after an investigation into allegations of attempted rape.
Greenwood faced serious accusations like attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault.
Starting in January 2022, when he was arrested for these alleged crimes, Greenwood was suspended by Manchester United. Since then, he hasn’t played or practiced with the team.

Why did Manchester United change their mind over Greenwood?
Initially, Manchester United wanted Greenwood to rejoin the team, but they changed their decision due to negative reactions from the public.
Despite having two more years on his contract (with the possibility of extending it), the club and Greenwood decided it’s best for him to pursue his career elsewhere.
Because of this incident, Greenwood will unlikely play in the Premier League again, and he probably won’t represent the English national team either.
Even though he wasn’t proven guilty in court, the damage to his reputation caused by the situation being widely discussed on social media has been significant.
What is Greenwood’s next club?
Considering his connection to the incident, finding a new team in Europe might be tough for Greenwood. However, teams in the Saudi Pro League might be interested in him.
Before this situation, Greenwood had performed well for Manchester United, scoring 35 goals and assisting 12 times in 139 matches.
He was seen as a very promising young forward. Unfortunately, now he’ll need to find a new path for his career and work to prove his innocence. But the accusations against him will likely follow him for a long time.

These determined advocates, known as ‘Female Fans Against Greenwood’s Return,’ are raising their voices against what they believe would be an injustice.
