Upcoming Afrobeats artist, Obidiz, is facing legal action from renowned gospel artist, Mercy Chinwo. She is demanding 2 billion naira in compensation for using her name in one of his songs that she deems disrespectful.
The gifted gospel singer took legal action against Obidiz due to the disrespectful manner in which he used her name in his song titled “Mercy Chinwo”, which was released on February 10, 2023.
Mercy Chinwo is seeking to have the song removed from all platforms where it is currently available for listening.

Removal or 2 Billion
The letter she gave him was dated March 23, 2023, and it was written with a title that read:
DEROGATORY AND DEFAMATORY USE OF THE NAME AND IMAGE OF MINISTER MERCY CHINWO IN A SECULAR MUSIC AUDIO AND VIDEO: NOTICE TO CEASE AND DESIST.“
It stated that the song titled “Mercy Chinwo” which was recently released and published, contained derogatory and disparaging lyrics, which came as a rude shock to the client.
The letter further requested the immediate removal of the song titled “Mercy Chinwo” from all music digital platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud, and any other platform where it was published.

Renowned and talented Nigerian gospel singer Mercy Chinwo and minister GUC got many people talking on social media.
The singers, who were friends of each other both offline and online, seem to be having a rift with each other.
The gospel singers have been reported to have unfollowed each other on social media handles which include Instagram.
