The curtain has finally drawn on Sammie Okposo as the ace gospel singer and multiple award-winning artiste was given a befitting burial in Lagos.
Okposo was buried amidst tears and overflowing tributes and encomiums from his widow, colleagues, friends and beloved on Thursday, December 15, at a private cemetery in Ikoyi after a church service.
A heartbreaking highlight of the burial was the touching moment the singer’s wife Ozioma broke down in tears when his coffin was laid into the grave.
House On The Rock, a church where Okposo ministered had in a tweet on Wednesday, December 14, announced a “commendation service of songs in honour and memory” of the late singer.
“This evening at 6pm, we will hold a commendation service of songs in honour and memory of Minister Sammie Okposo at the Rock Cathedral. Join us to pay respect and tributes to one of our own and pray for the family he left behind. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace,” the tweet read.
Ikejabird recalls that the veteran singer passed away on Friday morning, November 25, after he was reported to have slumped in his home.
The 51-year-old soundtrack producer in the Nigerian movie industry made headlines early this year after confirming to have cheated on his wife with another woman in the United States.
In a post on his verified Instagram account, Okposo would later announce stepping down from ministration in order to retrace his step with God.
When this publication checked the singer’s IG account, the last post was a throwback to his praise party in Lagos on Friday, November 4.
