The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has suspended its eight-month-old strike conditionally.
A member of the union’s National Executive Committee disclosed this to Channels TV on Friday.
During its leadership meeting that began Thursday night and lasted until the early hours of Friday at ASUU National Secretariat in Abuja, the union decided to suspend the strike.
The union had called the meeting to determine its next course of action after state branches met last week to discuss the Court of Appeal ruling.
The Court of Appeal had ordered ASUU to suspend its strike until the appeal of a ruling ordering lecturers to resume work could be heard.
The academic union embarked on strike action on Monday, February 14, 2022 to protest the non-implementation of the 2009 Memorandum of Understanding reached with it by the Federal Government.
The union confirmed the suspension of the strike on its official twitter account.
