Cameroon 0-0 Egypt (1-3 pens): Abou Gabal’s heroics end Indomitable Lions’ dreams.
Egypt have knocked Cameroon out of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations to book their spot in the final with a 3-1 win via the penalty shoot-out.
120 minutes of football was not enough to separate the two teams at the Olembe Stadium until the game went into penalties and the Indomitable Lions missed three attempts.
Egypt had previously won their last five AFCON shootouts dating back to 1986, and booked their place in the final with their sixth-in-a-row, as Gabaski impressively saved efforts from Harold Moukoudi and James Lea Siliki, before Clinton N’Jie failed to convert Cameroon’s final spot-kick.
Seven-time champions Egypt dramatically booked their place in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final at the expense of hosts Cameroon, as ‘Pharaohs’ ‘keeper Gabaski saved two penalties in the deciding shootout.
