An exceptionally brilliant 14-year-old Nigerian girl, Fatima Adamu Maikusa, has won 7 medals in 7 international mathematics competitions.
Fatima, who is from Gombe, a state in Northern Nigeria, is a grade 11 student at the Nigerian Tulip International Colleges (NTIC) Kano, Nigeria.
The maths guru, who was also recognized by mathematics professionals, is said to have started excelling when she was 9 years old.

Since then, she has gone to perform outstandingly in various mathematics competitions around the world.
She has visited countries like Indonesia, Thailand, and Bulgaria because of her exceptional ability.
Nigerian girl sets record in mathematics
The child star didn’t return empty handed from these different competitions. She set a distinguished record by winning medals each time!
Her remarkable performance has been applauded by many, as she has brought Nigeria to limelight by her successes.
She has also become a role model to many young girls who have been inspired by her achievements.
Her prowess began when she won a medal at the American mathematics competition (AMC 08).
Then she went on to win more medals in these other competitions listed by mathematics professionals:
- International Eduversal Mathematics Competition in Jakarta Indonesia
- International math challenge in Bangkok Thailand,
- Kangourou sans frontiers -KSF mathematics competitions,
- Future intelligence students olympiad (FISO)
- Mathematics without borders in Bulgaria
- Komodo math festival in Indonesia.

Nigerian Boy Discovers Formula to Determine Divisibility by 7
Meanwhile, a 12 year old boy, Chika Ofili, born to Nigerian parents based in the United Kingdom has discovered a formula to determine numbers that are divisible by 7.
The formula, named after the young lad, is known as Chika’s Test.
In November 2019, Chika received the Academic Hero Award at the TruLittle Hero Awards for his contribution to the world of mathematics at the tender age of 12.
