In the spirit of love, kindness and community, IkejaBird Media marked this year’s Children’s Day with a visit to Bab-Es-Salaam Orphanage at Ikeja.
The visit, which also coincided with the celebration of Eid al-Adha, created a double moment of joy. While many Muslims across Nigeria celebrated the festival of sacrifice with prayers, sharing, and gatherings, IkejaBird chose to extend the spirit of giving to children at the orphanage.
The IkejaBird team was warmly received by the management, staff and children of the orphanage with Items donated during the visit including noodles, writing materials, and other essential supplies to support the children and make the celebration memorable for them. Delifrost also partnered with IkejaBird for the outreach, donating packs of its Tam Tam Kids drink to enhance the day’s excitement.
Bab-Es-Salaam Orphanage, located in Ikeja GRA, has been providing care and support for vulnerable orphans for over three decades. According to the administrator, Ogungbayi Asiyah, the late Alhaji AbdulWahab Folawiyo founded the home on December 6, 1990.
She explained that the founder’s vision was to give vulnerable children a better life and give back to society. “He wanted to give these children the life they should have and fill the gap left by the loss of their parents,” Asiyah said. The orphanage currently caters to about 50 children, both boys and girls, between the ages of 5 and 17.
Asiyah expressed gratitude for the thoughtful gesture. The visit reflects the essence of Eid al-Adha, compassion, sacrifice and sharing with others especially those in need
As part of its commitment to community storytelling and engagement in Ikeja, IkejaBird said it hopes to continue initiatives that positively impact lives and strengthen community bonds.
